GOVERNOR APPOINTS STOFFERAHN TO WORKERS' COMPENSATION COURT OF APPEALS
(St. Paul, MN) Governor Jesse Ventura today announced the appointment of David Stofferahn to the Workers' Compensation Court of Appeals (WCCA). Stofferahn replaces the Honorable Steven Wheeler to complete a six-year term that expires on January 6, 2003.
Stofferahn, St. Paul, has been an attorney representing injured workers in workers compensation claims and in social security disability claims with the law firm of Sieben, Grose, Von Holtum and Carey in Minneapolis since 1976. Stofferahn earned his juris doctorate degree cum laude from the University of Minnesota Law School in 1976 and his bachelor of arts degree from the University of Minnesota in 1969.
Stofferahn is a member of the Minnesota State Bar Association, the Minnesota Trial Lawyers Association and has been recognized as one of "The Best Lawyers in America" by Woodward/White, and a "Super Lawyer" by Minnesota Law and Politics.
In appointing Stofferahn, Governor Ventura said, "David will be a great complement to a court with an excellent reputation among workers' compensation lawyers."
Stofferahn, 54, was born in Spirit Lake, Iowa, and resides in St. Paul with his wife, Elizabeth. They have three children.
The Workers' Compensation Court of Appeals has statewide appellate jurisdiction over all workers' compensation appeals. The court consists of five judges who have experience with and knowledge of workers' compensation laws and have been licensed to practice law in Minnesota for at least five years. |
