Jefferson's Moose

"I have been spending considerable time recently with the writings of Thomas Jefferson. There's one picture, of a moose -- more specifically, of Jefferson's moose -- that I can't seem to get out of my mind. In 1787, Jefferson ... had the "complete skeleton, skin & horns of the Moose" shipped to him in Paris and mounted in the lobby of his hotel. ... It's worth asking: Why did he do it?"
"These volumes contain public and private laws of the Province and Commonwealth of Pennsylvania through 1809." Volume 1 begins in 1682. Volume 18 ends in 1809. These volumes then cover colonial laws, laws made during the Revolutionary War, and laws made after the war ended and a new nation was created.
